It’s just common sense. You have to complete your state required continuing education before September 30, 2018 anyway. So why not schedule a week vacation for you and your family. While the family is playing on our beautiful beach, you can take only two days of your vacation time to complete your CE requirements. Since the classes are held during the day, you still have the evenings to dine out with the family, and you still have five days of your vacation time to fish, play golf, or soak up the sun with the family.

2018 is license renewal year and all licensees must complete 15 hours of continuing education. I have taken the guesswork out it for you. Since most people want to complete all their CE requirements at the same time, we have made that possible by offering all required courses on the same day.

We are very excited about the one-of-kind elective course “A Day In Court.” It promises to be fun, exciting, educational and one that will form memories for a lifetime.

Requirements For and How to Get Alabama Real Estate License

I have been asked to simplify the licensing requirements and explain the process so I will give you a bullet point explanation of the basic requirements. For a complete list of all the requirements, contact me or refer to the Alabama License Law.

  • A person must be 19 years of age.
  • A citizen of the United States or have documentation from the federal government establishing a permanent resident status.
  • A resident of the State of Alabama or agree to other provisions; which can be explained upon request.
  • Must not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty or nolo contendere to a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude. Note: Criminal records are checked.
  • Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent.
  • Must complete a 60-Hour Salesperson Prelicense Course (your choice of online or classroom) prior to making application for a temporary license.

Alabama Real Estate CE Class Schedule for 2018 (Classroom)

CE Requirements

All licensees must complete Risk Management Avoiding Violations (level one requirement) and either Risk Management for Salespersons or Risk Management for Brokers (level two requirement). All associate brokers and qualifying brokers must complete a minimum of 3-hour of Level One and 3-hours of Level Two Risk Management.

 

Since most people want to complete all their CE requirements at the same time, we have made that possible by offering all required courses on the same day and elective courses on the second day.

Why Salespeople Should Smile

DO YOU SMILE WHEN ON THE PHONE

In my training classes I teach people the importance of smiling and I’m always interested in the facial expressions of my students during my presentation. Much of the time most students will have a blank look on their face; which tells me they don’t believe what I’m saying. When I entered the sales field in 1969, my brother told me something I’ll never forget; “Look like a professional, dress like a professional, and act like a professional and you will become a professional.” I didn’t appreciate what he was telling me at the time, but as I began maturing, I began to understand the message he was sharing. I can attest that he was right. I have shared the same sentiments with thousands of sales people in hopes they too would learn the real meaning behind the words.

When you think of a salesperson, what do you see? What is their appearance like? What type of personality do they have? How do they act around other people? What is their demeanor?  All of us have met people that we somehow knew they were in sales before we were formerly introduced.  They were well dressed, spoke proper grammar, and had such an outgoing personality; they had to be in sales. The Alabama Real Estate Commission requirements for getting reciprocal sales license are listed below in the order they are to be completed:

  • Something that might save time, but is not required, is to complete a Request for Determination of Examination for Reciprocal Licensing, and let the real estate Commission determine your current status. As long as you are licensed and in good standing with the Real Estate Commission in the state where originally licensed by examination, getting reciprocal license in Alabama will not be an issue. Just follow the instructions below.
  • Complete a 6-hours Reciprocal Sales Prelicense course which focuses on Alabama License Law only. This course explains the differences between the laws in your state compared to the laws in Alabama that govern our actions.
  • Upon successfully completing the course I will issue credit for you with the Alabama Real Estate Commission; and with Amplified Measuring Professionals (AMP/PSI, the State selected testing company).
  • Once the credits have been issued and received by the Commission and AMP/PSI, I email the student instructions for setting up the state exam.
  • Students must take and pass the state exam within six months from the date I issue the credits.
  • Upon successfully passing the State Exam (with a score or 70 or better) you can apply to the Alabama Real Estate Commission for Alabama Reciprocal Sales License by completing the form supplied to you with the score report, after taking the state exam.

Frequently asked Real Estate School Questions

I have trouble staying focused on the internet. I need a regular classroom course.

  • Some classes are definitely better when taken in a classroom. Continuing education classes should be taken in a classroom if at all possible so that you get the most up-to-date information. Classroom discussions are also a great learning tool. However continue to read below.
  • It has been documented from several studies over several years that students taking online prelicense courses make 25-30% higher scores on the state exam.

 

What are the advantages for taking online courses?

  • Online courses maintain focus without interruptions, annoying sounds, and distractions. Online classes focus only on the material specific to passing the state exam, while many times someone in a classroom will bring up issues not related to the material being studied.
  • The practice of real estate in today’s market is almost all done on a computer. Online classes are very easy to maneuver around which improves the students confidence level.
  • Online courses are much less expensive because there’s no travel involved. Course material can be accessed from any computer, anywhere, at any time.

 

Can I attend a class if I am disabled?

  • The answer is definitely yes. We are ADA compliant in every respect and is a non-discriminatory learning center for all who want to learn. We only request that students make us aware of any accommodations that may be required at the earliest opportunity so we can make arrangements to fulfill the student’s needs.

 

How long does it take to complete a salesperson pre-license course ?

  • On campus courses require a total of 12 weeks. Our distance learning courses vary because some people spend more time on a daily basis so they can finish sooner.

 

What is involved in a distance learning course?

  • Distance learning courses are linked through the school web site so an approved student can actually take the course from their personal computer and still have personal assistance from an instructor to answer all questions that may arise.

 

Is there a schedule for all courses that you offer?

  • For classroom class dates and times contact the school.
  • Distance learning courses are available on a 24/7 basis. When in doubt, visit the “contact us” icon and ask the school administrator any questions you have.

How long are campus classes  and do I have to attend every class?

  • The Alabama Real Estate Commission require a minimum of 90% classroom attendance in every Pre and Post Licensing class with a ten minute break per hour of class time. AREI has adapted this policy to all courses (except distance learning courses). Students violating this policy will not get credit for that particular class but can take the class over at a later time for credit when completed.

Are course payments required before the course begins or after completion?

  • All courses must be paid for in full prior to beginning the desired course.

What happens if I have trouble learning the material?

  • All our courses are designed to teach the student by using the simplest methods and illustrations to enhance complete understanding. We encourage all students to bring all unclear issues to the attention of the instructor so it can be thoroughly explained.

Do you offer sample testing?

  • The key to learning and preparing for taking the state exam is by taking sample test as you learn, step by step. We give test on every class, and then correct your answers with an explanation to help you learn the topics being studied.
