IN THE COMFORT OF HOME

IN THE COMFORT OF HOME

I have been asked to simplify the licensing requirements and explain the process so I will give you a bullet point explanation of the basic requirements. For a complete list of all the requirements, contact me or refer to the Alabama License Law.

  • A person must be 19 years of age.
  • A citizen of the United States or have documentation from the federal government establishing a permanent resident status.
  • A resident of the State of Alabama or agree to other provisions; which can be explained upon request.
  • Must not have been convicted of or pleaded guilty or nolo contendere to a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude. Note: Criminal records are checked.
  • Must be a high school graduate or the equivalent.
  • Must complete a 60-Hour Salesperson Prelicense Course (your choice of online or classroom) prior to making application for a temporary license.

Next is the process for completing the requirements that are controlled by state law. I will address the educational requirements from the point of view that benefits our school which is Alabama Real Estate Institute so put www.AlabamaRealEstateInstitute.com into your browser so you can quickly follow my directions. Alabama law requires a person to take a 60-hour Salesperson Prelicense course either in a classroom or the use of online classes in the comfort of your home or office. I am totally convinced that online/Internet classes are best for prelicense requirements. I will explain why. It has been proven in a state-wide study conducted by the real estate commission that people taking an online course generally make 25-30% higher scores on the state exam than the students taking a typical classroom type course. After seeing the results of our online students over a period of time, I decided to no longer offer classroom prelicense courses. When considering the total cost for each type class, we can offer the online class for almost 50% less than a classroom class so it’s a win-win situation for the student. We have a special sales prelicense package for $260 which includes an exam prep section.

To purchase our online class, on the home page of www.AlabamaRealEstateInstitute.com you will see six blue boxes which are hyperlinked. Click on the box that says, “Sales Prelicense,” which will opens a bullet point page of information. At the top and below the bullet points, you can click on the phrase, “Click here to buy your Alabama Real Estate Sales Prelicense Courses.” A page will open that lists course options. There is only a $10 difference between the two classes available and both will fulfill your requirements. Select the classes your wish to purchase by checking the box on the top left corner and click the “ENROLL NOW” box. Immediately after entering all your contact information paying for the class with a credit card, you will receive an email which will act as a receipt and also provides you a link www.mycoursepage.com so you can access your course material.

The online class is a very simple process for learning when you are committed to learning the material. Simply take it one step at a time and don’t attempt to just finish the course as quick as you can. The best way to study so you can retain the information is to study 2 hours a day, every other day. That is a very good pace that will allow you to complete the course quickly with a good retention rate. The entire course is click and read. That is you will read a few short screens and then answer a short quiz. Sometimes there’s only one question and at other time there are more. It shows you immediately if you answered it correctly and if you didn’t; it will show you the correct answer and in many cases will give you an explanation. Without you realizing it, answering the quizzes is branding the information on your brain for instant recall.

Online courses allow you to study when you want to; at times that are most convenient for you. You have access to the course material for six months from the date of purchase. You can access the course from any computer so long as you have access to the internet. You can log in and out of the course as often as you need to and each time you log back into the course, it automatically takes you back to the last page you studied. On every page of the course, there is a help button in case you have questions or need a more detailed explanation. All questions are directed straight to me and I will get them answered as quickly as possible. I am always available to assist you with any problems you have. Also on every page is a number for technical assistance in case you have some type of computer issue. The class is designed to take the same amount of time to complete as it would if you were sitting in a traditional classroom. However, we understand that people read and learn at different speeds. One of the advantages of online courses is that if you get tired or need to stop for a while, you are permitted to do so. I am also available via my cell phone (251) 979-2530. If I am teaching a class and can’t take your call, leave a message and I will call you back during one of my breaks.

Upon completing the course material online, you will take a proctored exam either at the school or at a library in your city. By answering 70% correctly to get a passing grade, credits will be issued to the Alabama Real Estate Commission and to AMP (state testing company). You now have 12 months to successfully pass the state exam. Upon passing the state exam, you have 90 days in which to apply for a temporary license; which will allow you to begin listing and selling real estate under a qualified broker; or have that license issued as “inactive.” From the date the temporary license is issued, you have six months to complete another required 30-hour Post License course. I offer this class for $186 and it is designed to help you jump-start your new career. Upon completion of this class you will complete the course requirements by passing another proctored exam. Passing this exam will allow you to apply for a permanent license.

I feel you need to know the quality of the school you select for your educational requirements.
