Real Estate Math is an Alabama Real Estate Commission approved 6-hour Continuing Education (CE) Course that is an elective course that counts toward the required 15-hours needed to renew a two year license.
The course was designed to provide a review of a licensee's math skills, reinforcing what is already known and applying that information to real estate mathematics. In this course, students will learn to apply formulas and terminology to real estate mathematics; how to complete a review of settlement costs and explain it to clients; how to use rectangular survey systems; and how to use the metes and bounds system.
Learning Objectives
After completing the course the student will know how to:
- Identify terminology that is used in typical real estate mathematic problems.
- Compute operations on fractions and percentages.
- Measure the reduction in the value of properties using the straight line depreciation method.
- Solve proration problems that a real estate professional typically comes across when closing transactions.
- Determine commission rates and calculate property values.
- Differentiate between the four legal means of describing a property.
- Determine property locations and parcel size from a rectangular survey description.
- Use formulas to calculate area and volume of land and buildings.
