Alabama Real Estate Ethics


 

Real Estate Ethics is a Continuting Education (CE) Course that was approved by the Alabama Real Estate Commission specificialy for Alabama Real Estate Institute, for the purpose of offering a 3-hour CE elective course that can be applied to the required 15-hour (class room hours) necessary for salespeople and/or brokers to renew their license.

This course is very detailed and specific to Real Estate Ethics as it relates to the protection of both the consumer and the licensee. The course summarizes specific ethical behavior of the licensee on a daily basis while at the same time pin pointing legal obligations required by Alabama Law to protect valuables placed in the Trust of licensees by the consumer.

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the course the student will be able to:

  • Identify three major categories of Articles of the Code of Ethics.
  • Describe the concept of general business ethics.
  • Identify how the Code of Ethics compares and contrasts with the concept of general business ethics.
  • Identify the difference between the articles of the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Practice.
  • Identify key terms associated with ethics complaints.
  • Identify at least three factors upon which a procuring cause arbitration claim is decided.
  • Identify possible violations of the Code of Ethics.

 

Learning Strategies:

 

  • We encourage classroom participation to ensure a more complete understanding of the subject matter.
  • Dividing the class into work groups for discussing and answering quizzes; then the correct answers are given to entire class.
  • Each segment begins with a quiz to allow the student to realize their knowledge base of the topic to be discussed and to peak their interest.
  • PowerPoint presentations are used to capture attention, create more excitement and enthusiasm, and make the learning process more retainable.
  • Handouts, examples, illustrations, and pertinent information are given to each student.
